碳达峰碳中和（简称“双碳”）问题，是当今全社会的重大课题。作为立国之本、强国之基的制造业，一直是碳排放的大户，是碳达峰碳中和的重点领域之一。中国的“双碳”战略为制造业带来了机遇和挑战，追求制造业的高质量发展和可持续发展，也是中国“十四五”规划的内在要求。需要强调的是，金融市场的发展可以进一步帮助制造业提质增效。从广义上讲，如何应对气候挑战已成为一个全球性问题。
随着绿色金融在应对气候挑战中持续发挥作用，转型金融已成为欧盟和其他经济体为主的发达国家推动企业绿色转型的重要金融支持工具。随着企业开始走向净零，转型金融有助于弥合传统金融和绿色金融之间的差距。因此，我们鼓励研究人员在中国及其他新兴市场探索与转型金融相关的研究和实践。我们鼓励但不限于绿色金融、ESG、转型金融、气候以及环境政策等相关的论文。

Green Finance and Sustainability Growth
How to achieve carbon emission peak and carbon neutrality (referred to as ‘Double Carbon’ Strategy for short) is a major challenge for the whole society. Firms especially manufacturing industry ones as the backbone of any economy, have been a major contributor to carbon emissions and now they are also the key players to realize carbon neutrality. China's ‘Double Carbon’ strategy has brought challenges and opportunities for firms and industries, as the pursuit of high-quality growth and sustainability development is outlined in the 14th Five-Year Plan. Great emphasis is placed to the joint efforts of firms and financial markets to promote quality growth while maintaining efficiency. Broadly, how to cope with climate challenge and societal needs become a global issue.
As green finance continues to support efforts to cope with climate challenges, transition finance has become an important financial support instrument of high-carbon companies to implement long-term investment to become greener in the European Union and other economies. Transition finance helps bridge the gap between traditional and sustainable financing as businesses begin the journey to net zero. We therefore encourage researchers to explore the research and practices related to transition finance in China and emerging markets in general. Papers are welcomed as they are related to but not limited to green finance, ESG, transition finance, climate related research, and environment policy of firms and governments.
The School of Finance at Nanjing University of Finance and Economics will organize an international conference on ‘Toward Carbon Neutrality: Transition Finance and High-Quality Development of Manufacturing Industry’ in Nanjing in November 2022. Pacific-Basin Finance Journal sponsor the conference and dedicates one special issue with the theme “Green Finance and Sustainability Growth.” Selected papers will be invited to submit for the special issue. Please submit your manuscript to greenfinancenj2022@gmail.com before 20th October 2022. Manuscript of excellent paper of the conference can be recommended to Pacific-Basin Finance Journal for review. The Journal’s submission system will be open for submissions for the Special Issue ‘Green Finance and Sustainability’. When submitting your manuscript please select the article type “VSI: Green Finance and Sustainability”.
All submissions deemed suitable to be sent for peer review will be reviewed by at least two independent reviewers.
Once your manuscript is accepted, it will go into production and will be simultaneously published in the current regular issue and pulled into the online Special Issue. Articles from this Special Issue will appear in different regular issues of the journal, though they will be clearly marked and branded as Special Issue articles.
